Hot pigs

What's going on with this weather?

Normally at this time of year it's beginning to cool down, we are confined to barracks as another winter draws in, talk turns to snow and ice and mummy starts considering switching the heating on while at the same time moaning about the price of gas bill. The Christmas tree will soon be making it's appearance providing us with a massive toy to wreck.  Couple of years ago me and my previous flat mate Prince Harry spectacularly destroyed mummies friends Christmas tree by hauling all the tinsel off it! She offered to look after us while mummy went in holiday, we rewarded her by wrecking her Christmas tree an seriously anniying K's husband who couldn't stand us in the first place.  That taught him for calling us "stinking little rats".

I believe K herself got rid of most of her piggies when she got bored of them and "replaced" them with a dog. She also got rid of mummy as her friend when mummy refused to drive 70 miles in appalling snowy conditions to drop K's piggies off at a rescue. K said she couldn't do it because she had a bad tummy, so she expected mummy to do it instead. Two days after mummy had been discharged from hospital having been admitted with her asthma and a chest infection. Poor mummy was still very poorly when she came back home. Some people need to sort their attitude out, pets are your responsibilty you can't just dump them on someone else when you get bored or something better comes along.

Anyway I digress, it's boiling, we can't be bothered to move. I can't ever remember having "garden time" in October but, garden time we are having. Well not right now as it's still dark outside and our wee paws are incapable of holding a torch. The new chap is a real sunworshipper, he loves filling his belly with fresh grass. Not so keen on being lathered with Sun factor 50 though, oh the joys of having fur!!  I saw him yesterday in his way out full of protest as mummy tried not to get Sun lotion on her posh frock. Mind there are disadvantages to wearing a fur coat when it's 77f outside.

Last week we had a very special person to visit us. Great-grandma. Though mummy gave strict instructions, no extra veg she still found ways to treat us including grapes. Caspian saw fit to bang his dish in protest because he was only given 2 grapes. He's got some attitude that lad, I'll give him that.

We were given lots of extra love and attention, not that we don't get lots normally a bit extra never goes a miss. Great-granny gave us "floor time" while mummy was out and didn't know that the kitchen door needed to be blocked. Mummy had a slight panic when she discovered a bag of spuds had been raided and it's contents munched on by Sparky as they are poisonous to us piggies. But thanks to the wonders of modern technology and Facebook she was able to get some advice from the vet and all is well.

Floor time is also a great time to wind up Tommy downstairs we sit there chattering at him and winding him up, knowing full well he's getting more and more annoyed and aggressive and can't do nothing about it, trapped as he is behind his cage bars, which when he's really annoyed he bangs and clatters out of sheer frustration. Mummy normally intervenes by this point and spoils our fun but it works everytime. Well we have to get back at him somehow for kicking Sparkies head in when he just wanted to be his pal. Yes it was years ago but we don't seem to be able to operate "forgive and forget" in this cage.

So we are having a busy and pretty exciting time her, Great-Grandma is away back home now, we miss her. But we are planning garden today, yummy fresh grass call along with the sunshine on our backs. Sadly possibly for the last time this year this weather is not going to last, I can't see us sunbathing on Christmas day.But still, look on the bright side of things. The planned destruction of the Christmas tree will keep us entertained.

Scampy Joes Jollies

I am not gunna waffle on like Sparky about my jollies.

Aunty H is fabby, she was my human mummy when I was first born and an ickle-wickle baby. But I have decided now I no longer like her!! Plus I am a big, hard, don't fight with me male pig, or least I like to think I am until Sparky nuts me and tells me off and I was put in a pink cage. Yes you read that right, a pink cage!

Sparky thought my strop over it was hilarious. He shouldn't speak (or squeak) he was in a bloody strop all week! He said we should be grateful that we had somewhere nice to stay, with good food and plenty of love, ok it wasn't the same as being at mummies but we had nothing to complain about aside from the fact that mummy had swanned off for a week and left us.

That's all I'm saying about me holidays other what's that takiing up space in the living room?

We're back

And have been for a while, hoe naughty of us not to post.

Yup we're back home and our paws are firmly back under the table. Order has been restored. Well just about anyway!!

We had a lovely holiday, kind off. I sulked all week, went on hunger strike and refused to drink. I behaved like a completely normal, sane guinea pig. Not at all like the character my mum described me to be. Until she walked through the door to collect me then I started shimmying up the walls of my cage, chewing the bars, rattling my water bottle and yelling my head off. Our Aunty H, who it has to said cared for fabulously well remarked to mummy that she'd seen none of that behaviour while she was away. No because for once I behaved myself cos I was in a strop cos mummy had gone away and abandoned me leaving me in the wonderful loving care of H. There's no pleasing some piggies!

We appeared to have gained another resident/squatter! Not sure how that happened, ask mummy. Head ruled her heart and all that he he he. He's like me and Mr T downstairs over 4 years old so it's getting like a piggy olds peoples home in here. He's had a tough start to life bless him.

The first eighteen months of his life, from what I can gather were not good. He was rarely cleaned out and was forced to live in or rather on several inches of piggy poop. Nasty in any circumstances but when your a creature that hates to be dirty it's horrid. Then H came across him and offered to take him on. She's cared for him incredibly well and loved him to bits. It was because of how much she loved him she wanted him to go to a new retirement home where he would have a bit more one-to-one time. She asked mummy.

Mummy was reluctant, she was trying to be sensible about the whole thing but her heart was sold. She said yes, he sold himself to her really and maybe the fact I sulked to much showed him what a fabby home I have so he ensured he put on his best "cute, sorry for himself, loving, please can I come home with you?" look to win her heart. What ever it was, it worked. Maybe I shouldn't of sulked so much!

So here he is at ours, in the front room. He's doing fabby well, squeaks and wheeks for the county. He's a "skinny pig" a specialist breed. Roughly translated it means that aside from his head and legs he's bald! So lots of extra care is needed to keep him warm and cosy! He also has a dodgy eye and dodgy lungs like mummy. Mummy has a cold/chest infection at the minute so it's difficult to tell the difference between her breathing and his with the pair of them wheezing away. May be they share nebulisers in the morning. The trouble is when mummies poorly breakfast is late as it takes ages for her to get off the starting blocks.

Mummy has taken on a new look as well. She's got new glasses, she can actually see where she's off now. And she can see even better how gorgeous we are. Secondly yesterday she took on the appearance of someone with a nasty infectious disease. Or a Zulu warrior. She painted the bathroom and living room ceiling, more paint in her than the ceiling, what a mess!! Not a good plan either, she said it was low odour so fine for her lungs. The physical effort involved wasn't, so she's resting today. Thank goodness, sometimes mummy just doesn't think.

So that's us, that's were we're up to. It's good to be home.

Guinea pigs have left the country!!

Yup we have left England and headed for pastures new, we even passed two airports on the way.

So where are we? this might offer a clue.

Yup we're in Scotland, pass me a kilt someone. We have headed to Scampys old stomping ground and place of birth. I am not doing the bloody highland fling mind, holidays are for kicking back and chilling out and that's I am doing. Photos will follow in the next post so you can witness me practising this fine art of doing sod all.

We are staying with our wonderful pal Aunty Helen, it might seem daft mummy driving all that way and into foriegn lands just to ensure that we are well cared for while she goes off and visits her family but she's not, she's ensuring we are in the very best of hands while she's away. It's really important when you have a pet that you make that thay continue to be really well cared for while you are away. It is your responsibilty to do this for your pet.

Aunty Helen loves guinea pigs, she really knows how to care for them. We are in the very best of hands here and mummy really has no need to worry (though she's bound to as she loves us all so much) we even have an excellent piggy savvy vet around the corner. We are not planning to visit him but it's good to know all the same.

Aunty Helen helps run "Becklan Rescue" so there are lots and lots of piggies here, what a racket!! We are, of course are contributing to the level of noise so we have settled in well. These rescues do an amazing job, they really do, it is so, so sad to see so many piggies in need of loving homes from little tiny babies to old men. Mummy is giving some taking one of the older inmates on (should I be really calling him that?). He's a very quite chap who just requires lots of love, a warm knee and a blanket. Mummy has so much love to give but not theres much room in the house, I know she would love to do it and Caspian seemed to really like our mummy, snuggling up to her but mummy is still to make her mind up.

So thats us and where we are. I am sure we'll hve a smashing time.

Lots and lots of love Sparky!!

(pass me a deckchair)

Civilisation and late breakfasts

It's great now that wor mum has finished ber stint of night duty is back on days

It's means we see more of her, she's less tired and might we add, less grumpy. But it also has it's draw backs as it means later breakfasts we now have to wait for our slave to emerge from her bed for a feed rather than getting fed at 7am when she staggers through the door after a night shift

Btw we has a fabby time at after school club, tell you more later.
